Good Nights, Bad Nights

As to be expected with any newborn, sleep patterns are a little erratic with Hayes. One night, he'll sleep like a dream for stretches of 3 -4 hours between feedings in his pack 'n play (which is terrific for us). The next, as in last night, he'll refuse to sleep unless he's in someone's arms and even then, he'll fight falling asleep with every ounce if his 8.5 pound being. Kyle and I are taking shifts, thank goodness, but I think each of us is secretly jealous if the other gets an extra 15-20 minutes of sleep. I suppose that's the currency we must trade in, now.

We have already come to think of life in terms of B.B. and A.B. (before baby and after baby). No more quick runs to the store, trips to the movies, or all day outings to Kansas City----that is, unless major preparations are made before walking out the door. And for those of you who know us really well and know just how painstakingly punctual Kyle and I are, you'll be shocked to learn that we have been LATE to a couple of things(GASP!).
Kyle and his parents thought that it would be neat to have some sort of picture that would show how well Hayes is growing. Of course, we'd need some sort of constant in the picture to illustrate this. I'm not sure how well we'll be able to keep up with this and with weekly photo ops, but we've decided to take monthly pics of Kyle's wedding ring on Hayes' cheek for size comparison. These are both from 4/25/08, one calendar month after he was born.
