In this week's pic, Fisher is wearing a onesie that Aunt Gillian, Uncle Casey, and Lilah sent. I LOVE it! And it matches his socks perfectly!
We're all doing pretty well here. Fisher is 39 weeks gestation (still not supposed to be born yet!) and 8 weeks old. He is still gaining weight (we visit the pediatrician next Friday, so we'll have an official weight for our chunker for the Week 9 post). He is having more and more awake time, but still sleeps most of the day and night away. In fact, he gave us one stretch of 6.5 hours between feedings one night. It gave us a little glimpse of heaven... Then, the next night, he was back to eating every 3 hours. But, at least we know it's possible!
Hayes is...well, he's two. He is exhibiting a mixture of terrible 2 behavior ("I'm the center of the universe, so bow to my every desire" and "I do it") and jealousy of his brother and the time we spend with Fisher. Hayes is more "fragile" than usual. Alas, he is no longer an only child. We are trying our best to have patience and to give him special attention. But it is definitely hard when he is testing us to the limits sometimes. He does love his brother though, always asking where he is and wanting to kiss and hug him.
I chuckled after reading a story on my friend Kelly's blog about how her 2 year- old daughter was adjusting to a newborn in their house. Little Taylor kept telling Kelly and Dad Luke to put baby sister Carson down in the swing. She figured out that she would get more attention if Carson wasn't being held. When I read it, I thought Taylor was so smart! Then, don't you know, Hayes told Kyle the same thing the other day! "Put Fisher in the swing, Daddy." The little stinker!
My parents were still here for part of Week 8. We ate LOTS of ice cream while they were here. Hayes is a huge fan! In fact, we had to tell him a little white lie. A couple weeks ago, an ice cream truck started visiting our neighborhood around Hayes' bedtime each evening. We knew we were done for if Hayes knew that someone would bring him ice cream right outside the front door. He would never go to sleep! So, we told him it was an ambulance! And it gives out bandages to people--that's why people line up at the door... Hey, there's only so much longer we can bend the truth (LIE) and slip stuff by him!
Thank you, Mom and Dad, for coming to visit. We had a great time and really appreciate all the support you gave us. We love you and miss you already!
Here are Kyle and Hayes at an ice cream place near our house:

This particular ice cream stand has some entertainment for the kids. There is a pond stocked with catfish and a food dispenser stationed nearby. For a quarter, Hayes had a blast feeding the fish---it is mayhem as all the fish fight each other for every last morsel. Here is Hayes throwing some of the food:

They also have a momma cow and calf. One day, the calf licked Hayes' hand!

There were also goats and goat food on hand. Hayes was a little nervous at first but then loved the way the goats tickled his hand as they licked the food away!

They have a practice milk cow, too!

My dad and Kyle worked really hard to plant a garden in our backyard. They planted peppers, basil, tomatoes, lettuce, watermelon, green beans, cucumbers, and zucchini. Thank you so much, dad, for all your hard work! I can't wait to eat fresh veggies out of our own backyard! Here are the fruits of their labors: (Everything is much bigger today, a few days after these pics were taken)

Little stinkers!! Too cute that Hayes said it too....they are too smart for their own good! Gotta love that the wheels are turning though.=) Fisher is looking so good! Can't wait to hear how much he weighs...I think Carson is going to be a bigger than Taylor(she is already 99% in weight and 92% in height) crazy!!
I, too, grew up not knowing what the ice cream truck was... I feel your pain Hayes!
Love this update! Fisher looks great- not even like a premie anymore! We are SO excited about seeing you guys next month!
Week 8 picture is awesome- I am with Cindy- he looks like a big boy- NOT a 30 weeker! Your garden ROCKS! As for adding an infant to a toddler- I feel it! I just read an article called "and baby makes 4" about the same thing- will send it to you!
