Week 12

Kyle, Fisher and I took a trip down to a little New England coastal town on Friday. We felt a little guilty that Hayes was in school, but decided that it would be a nice daytrip/date for us (Fisher doesn't count since he can't butt into the conversation). We have to try to take advantage of living in a location that lends itself to day trips--we can get to countless places in an hour or two. The weather was gorgeous (the last heat wave broke, thank goodness---you should see our electric bill!!!!) and we enjoyed walking, window shopping, lunch, and just feeling the ocean breeze.

Towards the end of this week, Fisher finally began to smile socially! They are few and far between and I have to work pretty hard to get them, but oh, they are so worth it! Also, he is just starting to make noises that aren't just grunting or crying. I would be exaggerating if I said they were coos, but they are getting close! Other than that, Fisher is staying on the 2.5 to 3 hour feeding schedule. He has occasionally gone longer between feedings at night (anywhere from 3.5 to 5.5), but the norm is still every 3 hours at night.

I have been giving Hayes all of his haircuts here at home. I have always been concerned that he will not sit still and maybe even pitch a fit at a barber shop, so I have been hesitant to take him. And, let's face it---I'm too dang cheap to pay $12 every 6-8 weeks for someone else to do it! Hayes does pretty well, especially since I bribe him with lolli-pops! (Don't worry, my fellow dentites--what else would they be but sugar free???) Here he is after his latest cut:

Seriously mom? More pictures???

Kyle and Hayes borrowed the neighbor's wheelbarrow. Hayes had a blast as Kyle ran him up and down the hill in our backyard.
We are very into building towers lately-- the taller, the better:
Nothing can beat the beauty of the majestic "Palmetto Moon" of my home state, but I couldn't resist this shot of the "Connecticut Moon" off of our back deck the other night.
