Week 9/ Official Due Date

Well, it's finally here---my official due date! My, how much has happened in the last 9 weeks...

During Fisher's 9th week, we had visitors! Kyle's parents came into town last Friday. We've enjoyed their company and they've enjoyed getting to know Fisher a bit more and spending time with crazy-man Hayes. Here are a few pics of Betty and Butch with the little one:

Comfy in Grandmomma's arms:

I must point out once again that it is rare to get a genuine smile from Butch in a picture, yet it is a different story all together once you put a grandbaby in his arms!

It didn't take long before Fisher and Grandaddy were quite comfortable with each other:

Development-wise, Fisher is definitely not where a 9 week old baby should be, but closer to a newborn, which is what his "adjusted age" is. He did start developing tears this week, though, and I think that doesn't usually happen for a few more weeks. (I can't remember for sure--It's amazing how quickly one forgets after knowing every detail of development for your firstborn.) He is still eating about every 3 hours, giving us spans of 4 hours every once in a while at night. Unfortunately for us, he has not repeated the 6.5 hour interval he gave us last week. No matter, though-- I'm trying to cherish each and every moment with him and not rush him to grow up too quick, even when I am bleary eyed with exhaustion!
Fisher went back to the pediatrician and now weighs a whopping 8 pounds, 9 ounces! Although his weight is in the 0 percentile for a 9 week old baby, he is above the 50th percentile if you adjust his age to a zero week newborn. (His 9 week head circumference was 1% and height 3%, but near the 50% mark in "adjusted" age.) Here is a pic I took of his fat little wrist that is getting creases in it:

In Hayes news, the selection of food he will eat is ever-expanding, something we thought would never happen. He is eating pickles, chicken, rice, green beans, cucumbers, and zucchini, to name a few. A cute story I forgot to share from a couple months ago is that when we visited the pediatrician for his 2 year check-up, Hayes said goodbye to the doc as he was leaving the room, saying, "bye, bye Dr. Shoes." At least that's what I thought he was saying. Then, when he was visiting the NICU with us one weekend, he said the same thing as one of the neonatologists left Fisher's bedside. A light bulb went off in my head---he was saying, "bye, bye Dr. SEUSS!!!!" Isn't that adorable?!?! He thinks all doctors are named Dr. Seuss!
Also, the inevitable happened... he dropped an "F" bomb, his first bad word. Now, I am not known for having the cleanest mouth around, but I am proud to say he didn't learn this one from me. Nope, he learned it from Kyle, of all people! He is not the saint my mom thinks he is!!! OK, just kidding. Hayes actually learned the word at daycare. There is a young man who is a janitor at the daycare that the kids call "Duster Man." Apparently, Duster Man and one of Hayes' teachers are romantically involved. He brings her drinks and food (all of this we've gleaned from Hayes, who may not be the best historian...). Anyways, Duster Man must be in the doghouse because not long after Hayes got home from daycare yesterday, he said, "fXXXing Duster Man!" I wasn't totally sure this is what he said until he repeated it two more times. We'll have to have a little talk with his teachers on Monday.
Can you believe that dirty word came out of this beautiful angel's mouth???

Anya is non-plussed with the baby. She just crawls up and plops down wherever she thinks she'll get the most attention.

We visited Bounce Town to expend a little of Hayes' energy. I didn't get to go last time---I think I was working when Kyle took Hayes the last time Betty and Butch were here. Hayes didn't want to go down any of the slides by himself. I didn't mind---I had a blast!

Hayes' cousin Lilah took a picture recently at a Lightning McQueen bounce house just for Hayes. So, we found a princess bounce house and took this picture just for Lilah!

Our garden is starting to produce some fruits and veggies! There is nothing better than eating home-grown vegetables from your own garden in the summer. Here are some grape tomatoes and my first cucumber:

We took Hayes to a nearby playground to let him burn off some steam (notice a theme yet?). He had a great time and so did Kyle!
Eating a snack at the playground:

He wanted to hang just like his daddy!

Each time that Betty and Butch visit, the weather is less than cooperative. Last October, it snowed. In March, it was cold while the two weeks preceding their visit were gorgeous and warm. This visit is no different. We are having a heat wave--YUCK. Upper ninety and hundred plus temps are not what we bargained for when we moved OUT of the south! Thank goodness for air conditioning and for various water sources to help us cool off! See below:
Our neighbors offered us the use of their pool while they were out of town for the weekend. It was wonderfully chilly!
Hayes insisted on wrapping himself up after our dip in the pool. His most frequent saying these days is, "ME DO IT!!!"

Fisher wore himself out watching us in the pool:

This was our poor-man's version of backyard water fun---a sprinkler! Hayes and Kyle ran themselves ragged:

Hayes mid-jump, trying to copy his daddy's jump over the sprinkler:

Another action shot:

Last on the list of water sources to help cool us off---the lake beach! The water was much warmer than when we visited with my parents two weeks ago. We all went in except Fisher---though I'm picturing a crazy time trying to wrangle both boys next summer.

Last but not least, all my boys sharing some tummy-time:

I can associate with those every 3hr. feedings since keeping Laura Cooper for Anna to work this weekend. Not a fan...but loving my new little one and our time together.
Fisher is precious and will catch up with his peers...(like Ms. Bea (Andy's baby)) Kyle is a cool dad...and what a joy it must be to watch both Hayes and him playing with their "boy toys". Next year you'll have all three little boys to keep "dry" from the "sprinkler games"
Love you
