Week 22

This week has been pretty busy. Kyle and I are searching for a new car. Hayes has a new cold from daycare. He hasn't been kicked out of this one. Yet. He seems to be doing well there and we like the situation so far. Too bad we'll be moving soon! He hasn't been eating a whole lot---he's very distractable these days--too much going on around him, I guess. Hayes' back and torso muscles are becoming stronger. He's beginning to be able to sit up by himself, as shown in this week's picture. He can sit up for about 2 seconds before he topples over---a big feat for any baby. Here's another of him sitting up, our Happy Dude, and Big Blue Eyes:

Kyle didn't want Hayes to get made fun of at daycare for his hair-do. He has what was affectionately nicknamed his "skullet"----a mullet at the base of his skull. He was born with the "do," but we thought (no, hoped) that it would go away, but it remains after five months! Anyways, Kyle cut his hair to match Hayes' in what he termed the "solidarity cut." Check out the front and back shots:

Last weekend, we took Hayes to the pickin' and fiddlin' contest in downtown Lawrence. It was a pretty neat music festival in a park on an absolutely gorgeous day. Then, we took Hayes to the outdoor pool for the first time. We figured that the water temp. would be like bath water since it had all summer to heat up. Much to our surprise, it was pretty chilly! Hayes surprised us even further by staying in for over 40 minutes, just taking in all the action around him.

Here's a video of Hayes laughing at Kyle:

I really hope Kyle went car shopping like that. That would be the best! Such a happy guy! Lilah loved the video. Can't wait for them to meet in real life!

That is probably one of the funniest things I have ever seen! Hayes is a lucky little man to have such a supportive dad. Cindy and I both hope you keep your hair like that for Thanksgiving.
