Goodbyes, Ouchies, and Gifts

On Thursday, Hayes spent his last day with his nanny, Laura. He will no longer be a baby of leisure, hanging around the house all day. He will now be going to daycare, which will be a big change for us and for him. I think we'll have a hard time dropping him off in the morning... Before, it was not very difficult leaving him at home and heading off to work, knowing that he was in such wonderful hands. Laura has been so terrific---we've never had a moment's worry while she's been staying with him. We wish we could keep Laura forever. But, alas, she is a student and heading back to class. Hayes will miss his daily companion and so will we!!!! Here are the two buddies on their last day together.

Hayes had his four month check-up on Friday, along with some really fun shots!!!! He was a trooper Friday but was SEVERELY cranky all day yesterday---ugggghhhhh..... we were glad when it was bedtime. The little guy now weighs 14 pounds, 10 ounces and is 25.3 inches. (Look out, Lilah, he's catching up!)

His ouchies:

We received a package in the mail all the way from Japan the other day. Chris and Cindy and Kellen sent a box o' goodies that can only be found in Japan. There were a couple boxes of Japanese candy, or "chocolate delivery systems" (as my brother calls them), and a really cool but inappropriate toy, the "Cat-a-pult" gun. Chris says they actually sell entire tubs of kitties for extra ammo should one run out. Boy, the Parent Watchdog/Advocacy groups and PETA in the US would be in hysterics if they saw this thing! The package even warns that this may not be appropriate for kids under 8. Who exactly is it appropriate for?

Chris and Cindy also enjoyed picking out some "American style" t-shirts and such for us. The Japanese have a difficult time with their English grammar, spelling, and phrases---I guess a little is lost in translation. Check out these awsome tees!

Mine and Kyle's:

"There it is with you. I am very happy, and you?"

"Coltish"

"Bgarish"---might as well say "gibberish!"
