So Sweet

Hello to everyone! Kyle and I want to thank you for all your thoughts and prayers over the past 8 months. It meant a lot to us to have such a great support system of family and friends. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and from Hayes as well!

The past few days have been quite an adjustment. We kind of feel like we have a little visitor in our home, but have to remind ourselves that he is OURS!!! All in all, we're making it so far. We are definitely lacking some sleep. I should clarify---Hayes is getting plenty of shut-eye, but Kyle and I are feeling the burn. My parents are being ever so helpful---Dad is keeping us fed with gourmet meals at every turn and Mom is cleaning up after him (a full-time job in itself) and keeping a watchful eye on Hayes while she lets us rest.

We've been feeding Hayes like crazy, trying to beef him back up. He arrived last Tuesday at 6 lbs., 12 oz., but dropped to 6 lbs., 2 oz. before we left the hospital. We took Hayes back to the pediatrician today and he had gained a whole 2 oz. in less than 3 days! It doesn't sound like a lot, but that's about 2% of his body weight. Otherwise, his jaundice is looking better and the doc pronounced him looking very healthy. He is on the very low end of the growth spectrum, which makes me feel like a bit of a failure for growing him too small. But, I have to remind myself that he was more than 4 weeks early. He should still be cooking!
