Above, Fisher is posing in front of our first daffodils of the season. Our spring is so late up here in Connecticut!
During Fisher's 49th week, he had a developmental check with the neonatologists at the hospital. He is doing well as far as they are concerned and won't have to go back again until next February. He weighed in at 16 pounds, 15.8 ounces and charmed the nurse and occupational therapist with his shy smile. He was happy in our arms and watched them warily as if they were going to take him from us---his stranger/separation anxiety showing through.
At home, Fisher showed us a new trick---shaking his head, "NO!" when we try to feed him food he doesn't want. He very much likes to pick up his own food and is not thrilled when we try to spoon feed him (unless it's something sweet, like fruit). Also, he is starting to clap a little. He doesn't quite get the hands together very well, but he sure swings his arms back and forth enthusiastically when he's happy about something. Lastly, Fisher is so close to crawling. He starts in a sitting position and leans all the way forward onto his hands with one knee down and then either flops onto his belly or returns to the sitting position. I just know the little stinker is going to crawl for the first time at school for his teachers!
Enjoying the outside in his jumperoo while we cleaned the winter grime from the garage:
Hayes talked us into watching his "Queeny" movie (Cars) during the week. During one of the melancholy scenes that was accompanied with slow, dramatic music, Hayes looked over at me with tears in his eyes and said, "Mommy, they can't find queeny." Poor Hayes---he didn't really understand the scene but he did feel the sadness that the scene was portraying. It was all I could do to not scoop him up and give him the biggest hug ever. Just like any mom, I don't want my baby boy to ever be sad!
My, doesn't he look like a BOY here? No more toddler!
First ice cream of the spring:
Hanging out with daddy:
A couple close-ups of my darling baby boy (we didn't realize just how much lunch was left on his face until looking at the pictures we had taken---oops! As my dad would say, "he's saving some for later!"):
Vest turned baby carrier and warmer all-in-one:
We have been waiting (patiently?) for our new couch to arrive to finish off the furnishing of our family room. It was finally delivered after almost three months. With our new TV, entertainment stand, and rug, it completes the room furniture-wise (we still need to do some painting, buy throw pillows and nick-nacks, etc.) Here, Hayes is running back and forth and Kyle is testing out the chaise portion:
