Week 51

This week, Hayes has made some major developmental strides (hee, hee). He has learned to "dance" (bobs up and down) and to give high fives. He is doing great at eating and according to Ashley at daycare, "loves" bologna (much to my dismay). He has only had one bottle a day for the last eight days---though he is very attached to his nightcap, so it may be a little while before we can completely wean him off the bottle. Now that we have a duplicate "lovey" blanket for Hayes to use at daycare, he is napping much better and longer than he has the past couple of months (2 hours vs. 30 minutes). As you can imagine, he seems to be in a much better mood when he gets home in the afternoon and he's less exhausted. Hayes is also getting pretty skinny, losing some of his already meager baby fat, due to the laps he runs (waddles) inside the house non-stop. So, all in all, a pretty good week.

Last weekend, we got a tiny glimpse of spring and spent some time outdoors. We visited the Maple Fest in a nearby town. One of the stops was a local sugarhouse where maple syrup is made start to finish. It smelled fantastic! Here is a pic of a maple tree with buckets collecting the sap: Hayes got to meet a real, live cow: We also got to see a really cool firetruck---Hayes wasn't into it yet, but we thought Owen, my first cousin-once removed (Cousin Matt and Sarah's son), would really like it!

Hayes played in the yard and we got a glimpse of something else--the boy he is to become. He did not want to stay in one spot and play with clean toys (I know, I was dreaming), but waddled around, banged sticks on the ash bucket, tried to eat the sticks, attempted to get into the ashes, etc.

What a great post!! I can't believe Mr. Hayes is dancing...I was laughing out loud! He is so dang adorable! I will be anxious to see if Taylor starts losing rubberbands now that she is all over the place! I can't even imagine it though...she definitely has a ton to spare!=)
