Week Eight

Our girl "Baby Camel" (as Fisher still calls her) is smiling more and more and having some extended wake times where she is alert and observant and mostly happy.  She had her 2 month doctor visit and weighed in at 12 pounds, 8.5 ounces (80th percentile), was 23 inches long (75th %), and her head measured 39 cm (60th %).  She also had some fun shots in her chubby little thighs-- poor baby!

The boys are still doing pretty well.  They have both moved up to the next, "older" room at daycare.  Fisher will begin to work on potty training and Hayes will start working on phonics and writing letters.

I just have to share a funny story about Hayes.  The other night when we were snuggling at bedtime, he said, "Mommy, I want you to have another baby in your belly.  How does a baby get in your belly?"  Uh oh....How do you answer that question posed by a 4 year old?  So I copped out.  Yep, I sure did.  And it's gotten me in a mess ever since!  I said, "When a mommy and a daddy love each other very much and decide they want a baby, they kiss and a baby grows in the mommy's belly."  So it naturally followed that my cute little boy said, "Mommy, let's kiss!"  If I had not been laying on Hayes' bed, I would have fallen over!  What do you say to that????  So I told him that you have to be married.  Yep, another big fat lie!  But phew, I made it through my first birds and bees question.  The problem is that since then, he's asked me about it several times.  When Kyle and the boys came home the other day, I leaned over and kissed Kyle hello.  Hayes then asked me if we just made a baby grow in my belly.  Poor kid---I've screwed him up for sure!  No telling what he's told the teachers and other kids at school...

Our neighbors had a pig roast and Hayes could not be stopped on the bouncy slide!
One of the adventures that the boys enjoyed with their grandparents and Kyle was a trip to the Mystic Aquarium.  They were mesmerized by the beluga whales.  One came fairly close to the viewing window and Fisher kept saying, "dolphin scare me, dolphin scare me."

They also took a trip to the Science Center in Hartford:

On the way back from the Aquarium, Fisher fell asleep with the magnetic drawing board in his lap. Yep, the little peanut is behind the big green board!

Being grandparents is very becoming to Butch and Betty:

Here are a few of the pictures that Kyle took of Niagara Falls while in Canada for his conference:

 Some bounty from Kyle's garden:
The boys have been very into the sports they saw during the Olympics.  Hayes taught Fisher how to do a track start so they could race.  Check out their form:
And they're off!
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Betty and Butch for their excellent help while Kyle was away.  We enjoyed your visit very much and will see you again in a few months!
