Week 9

This week was filled with changes.  Campbell went to daycare because I went back to work.  I eased back in and only worked two full days, but Campbell still went for at least a few hours each day to get acclimated to her new surroundings.  We were really worried ahead of time because trying to give her a bottle at home was disastrous--lots of crying and fussing.  Well, she must have realized there was no alternative and took a bottle just fine for the ladies at school.  Little girl is already causing drama with her daddy and her mama!  I'd say the worst parts of the first week of daycare and me going back to work are the drop-off and pick-up of three kiddos.  That certainly takes some juggling!  It will probably be a while before we perfect our routine.

Campbell has been getting into more of a predictable daily routine.  She goes to bed around 8:30, wakes once during the night, and then wakes just in time to be fed before going to daycare.  Her naps are still short and spotty, but hopefully they'll become more regular as time goes on.

Showing some personality already:
Last weekend, we took a trip to Springfield, Mass. to their small zoo (perfect for young kids).  I thought this picture was appropriate since Fisher still calls Campbell, "Baby Camel."
 Checking some animals out:
When a wolf came trotting up to the fence, Fisher first backed away and said, "Doggie scare me, doggie scare me!"  Once he realized it was behind the fence, he was brave and took his time inspecting the wolf.
 What a bunch of animals!!!
We also headed to the lake beach for the last day that it was open for the season.  It was actually pretty chilly, but that didn't stop Hayes from swimming and the boys from playing in the sand one last time.  Fisher didn't go near the water but insisted on wearing his goggles.  What a goof!
Poor Hayes came out of the water shivering and with blue lips!
 Showing off his belly:
Fisher surprised me a couple weeks ago by counting all the way to 10!  He had only ever counted to two and so when he kept going one day, I almost fell out of my chair!  Also, he knows how to jump with two feet. I'm not sure when he learned, but I realized one day as he was playing with Hayes that he was jumping like it was no big deal. My little baby boy is growing up!  Being a goofball again:
In Hayes news, he has been working on pronouncing his "R" sounds.  Up until now, he was making the "W" sound in place of the "R."  I thought it would resolve itself over time (and it may have if I had let it go longer), but decided to give a try at correcting it.  We started by offering him one whole M&M if he would practice 5 words starting with "R."  The first few days, Hayes struggled a little, but has since picked it up really well.  We don't even have to remind him any more to pronounce the words correctly---he just says the word fairly slowy and really rolls his "R."  He is rrrrrockin' it!

They played in a hole someone else had dug for a while.  They poured water in and then jumped in the "mud"---here is Hayes just filthy.  Guess who had to go back in the cold water before we left to clean up?
 Campbell really likes bath time:
 Smiley girl:
Our little garden is finally producing at its peak, which is so funny since the gardens down south are either done or are on the down slope.  The green beans, tomatoes, and potatoes below are all from our garden:
These are for you Shaunna----"Peter" Peppers:
Kyle has grown a ton of different peppers this summer.  These "Purple Beauties" are gorgeous!
The part that shocked us was that when Kyle cooked these for a few minutes prior to making them into stuffed peppers, they turned green!

Love all the updates! You're much better at the blog thing than I am! I can't believe how big your baby girl is getting! She's even lost her little crease above the bridge of her nose! I can't wait to meet her!
