Week 29

Week 29 has been fairly uneventful. Fisher is grabbing for more things---and putting everything he can get his hands on into his mouth! He is sitting on his own for 5-7 seconds before toppling over. The highlight of Fisher's week was getting in the jumperoo for the first time. He doesn't jump yet (Hayes never really got into the jumping aspect of the jumperoo), but just looks at the toys and lights and listens to the music. He is eating a little more rice cereal and seems to be getting the hang of it now---so, soon we'll give him some pureed peas or green beans--yum!

Spinning his toy during tummy time:

My brilliant blue-eyed baby:

We have spent most of our Thanksgiving holiday weekend working on potty training Hayes. We decided that if we waited for him to show the signs of being ready, he would NEVER be potty-trained. We are using positive reinforcement and bribery (yet another thing I swore I'd never do as a mother...). The first day went pretty badly, the second and third much better. The better days involved a lot of running around bare bottomed. We've got one more day to reinforce things before he goes back to daycare, where they will either continue to encourage him or systematically undo all the work we've done this weekend. We'll see.

Here is Hayes eating the cookie that we have been promising him for well over a month now if he pooped in the potty. Yes, that's right--he pooped!!! Two days in a row!!! He was so stinkin' proud---and so were we! Now if only he can repeat this performance tomorrow and Monday and every day for the rest of his life...

Brothers:

We took Hayes into my office last week for his first dental visit. He did extremely well, at first. I cleaned his teeth and then attempted to "fix" his tooth by covering it with a tooth colored filling material. However, the tooth was so discolored that the grey just showed right through the covering. So, I took it off and redid it using a different material. That's when things went downhill (think screaming toddler). However, we powered through and the tooth looks much better, in pictures at least! The perfectionist in me wants to drag his little butt back to the office and make it perfect, but that won't be happening anytime soon. Poor kiddo---he did so well but had just had it by the end. He did leave with a smile on his face and was laughing, so no long term damage was done (I hope...). See, no more grey tooth:

Smiley baby:

Fisher's maiden voyage in the jumperoo:

Of course, Hayes had to try it out, too!

One last look for the week:

Here are the pumpkin muffins I made, which are definitely not part of our diet plan! Notice the lovely cream cheese filling in the center of the muffin at the bottom right---absolutely delicious!!!
