Week 28

During Week 28, Fisher moved from the bassinet to his crib. He has been sleeping through the night most nights (about 5 out of 7), so we have been getting better rest--yay! We are working on teaching him to roll from his back to his belly---he just needs a little help to get all the way over. Fisher had his 6 month developmental check-up at the hospital with the neonatologists and did very well. (They check premature babies to make sure they're on the right track.) He is not where a 6 month old would be developmentally but is definitely ahead of a 4 month old. He has another similar appointment in 4 months. Oh, and he is just beginning to sit unassisted. He'll sit about 5 seconds before toppling over. It won't be long before he'll be doing it all the time!

For this week's picture, we recreated a pose from Hayes' 23rd week, which is the same adjusted age as Fisher is this week (Hayes born at 36 weeks, Fisher at 31, a 5 week difference between the two---make sense???). They look very different to me, though other people think they look pretty similar at times. The pictures above are of Fisher and the one below is Hayes. Hayes was a little slimmer than Fisher and definitely had way less hair!

This week, Hayes has gotten really good at identifying his "letters" (the letters of his name). He points them out on sweatshirts, on newspapers, in magazines, etc. He says, "There's an 'H' for ME!!!" and "There's my letter, and there's my letter." He even can draw an "H," though it is quite wobbly---but what can you expect with a 2 1/2 year old?!?! Also, Hayes learned how to twirl spaghetti noodles onto his fork!

Hayes wanted a turn with the week blocks:

Comfy with Daddy:

During this week, Fisher started acting pretty fussy at dinnertime. We thought that maybe he was interested in having his own, so we gave him some rice cereal. He wasn't really all that into eating "solid food," though I don't think I'd be all that interested in runny gruel either! The pics below show the first bite, him not knowing what to do with it, making a funny face, and then being DONE after a few bites.

Night two of rice cereal went a little smoother, but he still wasn't too sure about the taste!

Hayes helped Kyle rake some more leaves in the yard and then spent some time jumping in the pile, a classic fall rite of passage:

One of Hayes' favorite toys as a baby was the oball with rattles---it is super easy for babies to hold and makes fun noises when shaken. So, since Fisher is now grasping things, we got out the oball and it's a hit with Fisher, too!

Loving all of the pictures! I admit that now I'm copying some of your poses, as I've run out of ideas!

How did you get Fisher to sleep so long? We were getting longer stretches (7pm to 2am) out of the boys but now they're back to getting up at 11am. I am at my wit's end!!! They're up at 11, 2:30, and 4:30. By then, they don't want to go back to sleep!!
