18 Month Check-up

I took Hayes to his 18 month check-up last Wednesday. He is doing well and is healthy---YAY!!! He is moving up on the growth curve quite well, especially considering where he started---at something like the 4th and 10th percentiles for height/weight/etc. He now weighs 25.8 pounds (43rd percentile) and is 33 inches tall (66th percentile).

In other Hayes news, I ask Hayes on a daily basis if he is "my baby or my big boy." He always responds, "Ba-by," which makes me smile. It won't be long now and he'll want nothing to do with being a baby! I think I just might be a little heartbroken the first time he answers me, "Big Boy!" Are all parents torn between wanting their kids to grow up (to see who they'll become) and wanting them to stay babies forever???

Hayes has started a small obsession with "Thomas the Tank Engine." He has a couple story books about Thomas, which he insists we read to him all the time. He glimpses one of the books and says "Tomma, Tomma, Tomma," and even wakes up in the morning and one of the first words out of his mouth is "Tomma."

Here are some pics of Hayes playing in the yard and driveway:

Last Sunday, we visited a local apple orchard to pick a few Johnagolds (Kyle's all-time favorite). Here are a few pics from the outing:

A view out over the hills--the leaves are beginning to change:

He insisted on picking up the yuckiest, wrinkliest apples off the ground (he's all boy, right?):

So glad Hayes' check up went well. He looks like a little j. crew model in his plaid overalls. I love it!

Hayes is almost the exact same size as Kellen. I can't believe how BIG they're both getting (but they'll ALWAYS be our babies)! I get all "cheesey" when I think about how much fun they're going to have together someday. Also, I'm super jealous of your secenery and weather- no changing leaves over here! It's still humid and in the 90's every day. We can't wait for things to cool of so we can finally take Kellen to the zoo. Glad things are going well in CT!
