Hayes is a year and a half old! Wow! It seems as if our precious boy joined our family only yesterday, but at the same time, it seems like he's been our pride and joy for a lifetime (his, at least!). In turns, he continually makes us smile, sigh with frustration, laugh, beam with pride, and collapse with exhaustion. What a wonderful gift he has been!
Hayes' 18 month picture was taken at a local playground in our new town. We're very happy here so far and feel like there will be a lot offered in the way of kid activities as Hayes grows up. At the playground, Hayes is always drawn to the older kids and wants to do whatever they're doing---as evidenced by the official 18 mos. picture above. Hayes started swinging from the bar after watching an older boy do it.

Video of the rudimentary bar routine:
This month, Hayes has met a new friend at daycare---Zach. They play well together (and by that I mean roughhouse) and Hayes talks about him at home. Also, Hayes has started saying (and signing) please and thank-you. The please came first and is unprompted most of the time. Usually, he impatiently swipes his arm down his chest and belly and says, "pees." Thank-you is a recent addition and is the cutest thing to hear when it's unprompted---"tank-oo, mama."

In other Hayes news, he has begun to eat a tiny bit more variety in the way of foods. We persuaded him to try easy-mac and now the kid can't get enough, demanding "MACK!!" for dinner many nights. (Hey, it's not the most nutritious of foods, but it's a victory in the food category nonetheless...). We've also gotten him to eat pasta and marinara sauce by letting him dip the noodles in the sauce. He appropriately calls out, "DIP!!" Here he is wearing his apron bib used only for the messiest of meals: (notice that it covers arms, chest, and lap----we LOVE this bib!)
