Week 30--Hayes was helping me bake some brownies on this rainy day. He even added his own 'secret ingredient!'
The weeks in Kansas are dwindling down but are a blur of activity. Last week, we sold "JOE," Kyle's trustworthy friend and primary mode of transportation for the last 6 years. We were sad to see him go, but happy that he found a home with an owner who was impressed at the great condition he was in with low mileage. We think the new owner will take good care of him, but Joe will be missed. Here are Hayes and Kyle saying goodbye:

Our friends Kelly, Luke, and Taylor came over for dinner last Thursday night. They are great neighbors and we'll be sad to leave them. Hayes' first little crush is on Taylor, so he'll be sad to leave her, too. Here he is trying to win her over by holding her hand and giving her a foot massage---Kyle must've taught him some tricks!

We try to take Hayes for a walk every evening. On this particular night, he didn't want to let go of this little bag before we left the house, so he took it with him. He held onto the darn thing the whole time---we thought it looked like he was carrying a 'man bag' (purse). He's carried the man bag every night since!
Betty and Butch, Kyle's parents, sent some cute clothes to Hayes. Included were some old school tube socks that Butch's coworker found at home. We put them on as leg warmers and Hayes said, "Jayhawks, number ONE!"

We visited Kyle's cousin Heather in Fort Leavenworth on Sat. We were able to meet her new son John (2 months) and spend a little time with Hayden (5 years). Kyle got some practice playing with boy toys---lots of Star Wars figurines littered the living room as we left---and Hayden got a little "man time" since his daddy was out of town. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera and didn't get any pics! :( Take my word for it--John is a cutie pie. You can see some pics of their family at: http://heathandheather.blogspot.com/
On Sunday, we trekked to Baldwin City to its annual Maple Leaf Festival. There were a ton of craft booths and lots of food. Kyle indulged in his annual Turkey leg (he was in heaven) and a funnel cake. Hayes enjoyed people watching from his stroller and then the baby animals in the mini zoo.
Hayes has been trying out his sippy cup and practicing on his hands and knees. I guess he really liked watching his cousin, Lilah, crawl and wanted to emulate her!

Bath time will never be dry again! Hayes learned the art of splashing the other night and has been doing it non-stop (unless the rubber duck is being shoved into his mouth).
