Week 29

This week's picture was taken in Allen Fieldhouse, home of the mighty KU Jayhawks---National Champions!!!!! Hayes needs to know where he comes from, that he'll always be a Jayhawk! We asked special permission and were allowed to sit Hayes on the corner of the court. Hayes is gaining on Wilt Chamberlain in the pic below. Also, Hayes poses with the National Champ trophy.

Week 29 has been busy. We took a trip over the weekend to St. Louis to see some of my family. This was Hayes' first road trip and he travelled pretty well. I am a little ashamed to say that a couple of times when Hayes got fussy, I pulled out the Wiggles DVD that I bought especially for this trip. He quieted right down. I think this is the start of something I'm not too excited about. UGH!!! The Wiggles.....need I say more?

We stayed with my grandpa and grandma and also got to see my Aunt Nancy, my cousin Jason and his wife, Sigrid, their daughter, Siri, my Uncle Wes and Aunt Barb, and my cousin (in-law) Sarah and her son, Owen. Here are a few pics from the weekend:

2-year old Siri---isn't she just adorable?

Hayes had his six-month check-up on Monday. He got a new round of shots (yuck) and the once-over by his pediatrician. He assured me that even though Hayes is not measuring up to several of his baby peers (Kellen and Taylor), he is still doing very well. He is now 17 pounds, 5 ounces, which puts him in the 35th percentile for weight. His head circumference and height are also around the same percentile.

Hayes knows how to roll from his stomach to his back, but chooses to do it very seldom (about 12 times total, ever...)--- we've yet to see him roll from back to stomach. So, Dr. Loveland recommended that Hayes spend a little more time on his back and belly to practice rolling over. I decided to exploit Hayes' like of the Wiggles and set up the computer behind his head with a Wiggles video going to try to encourage ( I really mean 'trick') him into rolling over. Darned if the kid didn't crane his neck all the way around to see the screen without actually rolling over...the little booger!

Tuesday, Sara and Emmy came over for a visit. Emmy is 9 1/2 months old and almost walking. She is such a beautiful baby and is currently into sharing. She and Hayes shared some cute moments and touched each others' faces----so adorable.

During week 29, it hit us that we're going to be moving soon, VERY soon. We've got a lot to do around the house and a lot we want to do around Lawrence. We'll keep you posted on our progress! Here are some random pics and a video of Hayes' new trick:

It can't hurt to put him on his back and stomach, but I wouldn't stress about it. Lilah didn't start rolling consistently until almost 8 months, and now you can't keep her still! I can't believe Hayes weighs as much as Lilah!
