Last night, we celebrated my sister Stephanie's birthday. She's 27 today, actually. One of her favorite gifts was a new Vera Bradley bag. We had an incredible dinner of fried fish (snapper and dolphin) and homemade french fries. For those of you who don't know this already, my dad is a wonderful chef!
We also celebrated Christmas with Tammy and my 7 1/2 year old niece, Dawn. They are heading back to Alabama tomorrow. As you can see, we are trying to infiltrate Alabama with Jayhawk pride!
My 2 1/2 year old niece, Dailyn, got to open some of her presents as well--we didn't want her to feel left out... She is proudly holding up the latest acquisition to her "boy panties" collection. The Shrek boy underwear can now proudly join the ranks of Elmo, tractors, and monster trucks. My sister encouraged her to pick out her own underwear as an incentive to potty-train. I guess she assumed Dailyn would pick out girlie, pink, flowered panties. Boy was she wrong! Dailyn's favorites are the boy underwear in the afore-mentioned prints with the flaps in the front. Hilarious!
We all got a little Japanese love from my brother, Chris, and his wife, Cindy, who were not able to make it home for Christmas this year. They had sent some birthday gifts for us. Steph, Dawn, and I put on our Japanese silk pajamas to test them out. Very beautiful!
Today, we visited my hometown best friend, Renee, and her husband, Mike. They are going to be having a baby boy in a few days! Renee is just gorgeous and Mike is a proud papa already. They are going to make terrific parents to their son! I look forward to her passing along some baby boy wisdom.
