End of 2007 Blog

2007 ended with a quiet evening at home....taking down Christmas decorations and unpacking the last of our suitcases from our trip home to SC. Kyle did make a really nice dinner! And we ALMOST made it to midnight. Gosh, we are such party animals. I think our trip home really took it out of us--we had such a great time and were constantly on the move. I'm posting pictures of various days of our trip...

We always go up to Georgetown to my Grandma Cherry's house to cook a pig a couple days before Christmas. The barbecue is for Christmas Day, but always tastes the best right after it comes off the pit. YUM!!!

This was a fun day---my brother-in-law, Derek, borrowed his friend's "Cornhole" game and brought it to Georgetown. Kyle and Stacey kicked some butt, beating Derek and his friend Claus TWICE! We're hoping to have a few game boards and bean bags made in time for our couples baby shower.

We also had oysters while we waited for the pig to cook. The oyster table was a popular place, with my mom in the head position for what seemed like hours. (She may be little, but the amount of oysters she can put away is legendary!)

On Christmas Day, we drove up to Greenville to visit with Kyle's family for a few days. We were able to spend time with his Grandmother (Dora), his parents (Betty and Butch), and his brother (Kevin). Casey (his other brother) and Gillian (Casey's wife) were unable to make it. Something about not being allowed far from their home until their baby is born. Sounds kinda hokey, huh? (Actually, a really good excuse--but we missed them all the same.)

Kyle's parents gave us a TOM TOM navigational system for Christmas, which came in really handy as we trekked up to Asheville to see the Harrelson family. Little Mary Hudson has changed exponentially since I saw her a couple months ago. And Anna and Sam have really taken to parenthood.

We headed back to Charleston and spent some more time with my family, ate some Southern food at Jestine's Kitchen, and started planning our baby shower (which will be here before we know it and we'll be heading back to Charleston once again). Our last night was spent with Steph and Derek and Dailyn. Kyle was the doting uncle. And I'm sorry, but I'm including several pictures of Dailyn because she's such a beautiful child.

Happy New Year, everyone! We are having a great one so far--we just celebrated our 5 year anniversary yesterday. And, 2008 promises to be a year filled with many changes--the birth of our niece or nephew in NC, the birth of our son, the birth of our niece or nephew in Japan, and hopefully some news on our job search.
