Ultrasound #7

First of all, I'd like to wish my brother, Chris, a Happy 34th Birthday! (Gosh, he's OLD!!!) There will be many changes during his 34th year, the most exciting being the birth of his and Cindy's first child, due in July. We are really excited for them and for our little boy to have another cousin close in age. I say "another," because we were gifted with a beautiful niece just 6 days ago! Kyle's brother, Casey, and his wife, Gillian, welcomed a healthy 8 lb., 13 oz. Lilah Finlay on Jan. 12, 2008. Congratulations to Gillian and Casey. This is the year for babies!

Our baby looks to be developing beautifully, as evidenced by our 7th ultrasound today. He was sleeping and therefore not moving around very much during the sonogram, which I think makes it much easier on the sonographer as she works on getting various views. The pictures are below... I hope noone is getting tired of seeing pics of our Baby 'Pyle'---we never tire of getting new ones! Today, his weight was estimated at 2 lb., 3 oz. He's measuring right on track for our due date. In the first picture, Kyle says the baby is holding up his arm, showing us one of his 'guns.'

The good news is that the placenta has moved quite a bit and is no longer considered marginal placenta previa. That's a relief. And, I'm released from all the restrictions I've been on for the past 3 months. I can now lift my lug of a cat, Anya, without worrying. I can exercise! The downside here is that we were really enjoying walking before the restrictions were imposed, and it is currently 16 degrees outside with a windchill of -3 degrees. It's supposed to stay like this for a good week. So, we won't be walking outside any time soon! We'll just have to find other ways to get moving.

The not quite so good news (which we found out a month ago) is that the umbilical cord inserts into the placenta in a marginal position (on the edge). Our doctor said that this is no cause for immediate concern, but she would like us to see a specialist to get a second opinion. So, we go in for our eigth ultrasound with a perinatologist sometime in the next few weeks. The bright side is that we get to see our baby AGAIN!!! We'll keep you posted.
