It's Definitely a BOY!!!!

Hello to everyone! Yesterday, we had our 19 week ultrasound. Baby Boy looks to be healthy! And, as the title says, he's DEFINITELY a boy. We went in for a 9:30 sonogram and a 10:00 doctor appointment. The sonographer did two different types of ultrasound (I won't elaborate on this for the male readers). Basically, we saw all different views of the baby--his brain, his abdomen, his bladder, the cord insertion, and his spinal column. We saw his hands and feet, of which we have pictures below. (Look closely under the label "hand" for the finger bones; the foot is also labelled.) I was impressed with a view that showed us his stretched out leg--his leg bones were clear as day (sorry, no photo). Kyle's favorite view was of the four chambers of his heart. We both really liked seeing him in profile when he was moving his mouth, swallowing some of the amniotic fluid. Oh, and we saw one view with his hand up toward his face, in a "pensive" pose. (Maybe he'll be super smart like his Daddy!) And, we saw the male parts in a close up view where there was absolutely no mistaking! (No photo--the little guy may be modest.)

The great news here is that he looks healthy. The down side is that my placenta is still a little too close to my cervix (sorry if this is TMI). So, I am still considered to have placenta previa, which was diagnosed originally 4 weeks ago. I am still on exercise/weight restrictions, etc. The bright side of this is that the placenta tends to move upwards away from the cervix as pregnancy progresses--and mine has (just not far enough yet). We go back in 3 weeks for yet another ultrasound to see if the placenta is in the right place--so please continue to keep your fingers crossed for us! I sure would like the restrictions to be lifted! Well, enjoy the pictures--we'll post more after our next visit.

Oh, and I almost forgot--I felt him move for the first time a week ago. I had been feeling some weird stuff but wasn't sure if it was the real thing. Then, last Friday, I was sitting quietly at the kitchen table and felt a little wiggle right below my belly button. I knew for sure that it was the baby moving! It's really neat, to say the least. And it's something very private that just he and I share, a little secret we're passing back and forth. I can't wait for Kyle to be able to feel it, too, and join in on the party!

I teared up reading this, I'm truly so excited for you. It's so amazing to have that little one inside you. I'm so glad to hear things are improving on the previa side....it's all worth it.

YEAH! We're so excited for you guys. I love all the pictures! Hopefully we'll have some pictures of our little "jelly bean" to post in a few weeks. By the way, do you have any birthday plans for the BIG 3-0?
