Our neighbors' friends went out of town this weekend and were nice enough to give us their Kansas football tickets. Ken and Carol (our terrific neighbors pictured above who have all but adopted us) invited us to tailgate with them before the game. We are really lucky to have them as our neighbors, as they are always looking out for us, lending us gardening equipment, and educating us to the merits of Jayhawk sports. They have been as excited for our pregnancy as our families have been. Ken is always advising me not to walk alone, drink lots of milk, get plenty of sleep, etc., just like a protective father.
The Jayhawks won soundly, 55-3, to move to 4-0. This makes Kansas sound like a powerhouse, but they are routinely chastised for having one of the easiest schedules in the nation this season. Florida International, an 0-3, I-AA school, proved no match for the mighty Jayhawks.
If you look at the size of the crowd, you'll notice that college football here in Kansas is not quite the "religion" that it is in the South. Basketball, on the other hand......
