Hayes' 4th birthday party theme was "Cat in the Hat." We had Suessical inspired invitations, paper hats for everyone, red and blue candied popcorn for favors, and red iced vanilla or blue velvet with vanilla iced cupcakes. And the party was at Bounce Town yet again this year. It was a great party with lots of friends and classmates from school. Here are some pics:

Hayes also got a really cool soccer goal from his Grandmama and Grandaddy:
We can't believe our firstborn is 4 already---how the time has flown. We just adore our sweet, loving, curious, sensitive, cautious, stubborn, smart, silly boy. We want him to stay little forever, but can't wait to see who and what he'll become. (Every parent's conundrum, right?)
One story I will share that I don't think I have included yet on the blog is about a field trip that some of Hayes' classmates went on without him. As background, Hayes sits and listens and learns all the songs that they sing at school but never sings along with them. Well, Hayes came home one day and told us that his friend Ella went to sing at the "el-billy" home. It took us a minute and then we realized he meant that they went to the nursing home--and he couldn't go because he wouldn't actually sing. We corrected him and said, "you mean, the ELDERLY home, Hayes." He very adamantly said, "NO, they went to the ELLL BILLLYYY home" and really enunciated the syllables. Nothing we said could change his mind. So, nursing homes will forever be known as el-billy homes in our house!
We put Hayes in gymnastics every Saturday morning with his best buddy TJ. What a fantastic way for a four year old to burn some energy! Here he is so excited about class starting in a few minutes:

Isn't he looking so big and handsome????
