Hayes has had the short end of the stick as far as developmental milestones and updates, so this one is devoted solely to him! Hayes is now able to open the baby gates without pause and he can even open doors with the child-proofing door knobs! He says some of the funniest things that we wonder where he hears them: one day while talking to Papa Glenn and Nana Judy on the phone, he was asked what he was doing and he very nonchalantly said, "just chillin'!" He also told Kyle to stop doing something the other day, "daddy, stop doing that because you're freakin' me out!" He tells us every day, "mommy/daddy, you're my best friend" and "mommy, you're pretty." How awesome is that?!!!
Hayes is coloring within the lines (mostly), using tape and glue, and cutting mostly straight lines with scissors. He knows almost half of Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax" by heart (from reading it every night at bedtime for a month straight). Something that really surprised Kyle and me was during our recent garage sale, Hayes played for hours with the neighbor, Zach, who is 7 and who Hayes idolizes. He even went over to play at Zach's house for a while! Wow---talk about your kid growing up before your eyes---isn't he supposed to be 9 or 11 before he does that? But it was really cool to be sitting at home and having Hayes safely playing next door without our constant supervision.
Lastly, Hayes is transitioning to the "big boy" room at school where the kids are 3.5 to 5. He loves it and is so proud to have joined some of the older kids. It is in the new class that he learned this song, which made his daddy beam with pride:
