Week 39

This week, Fisher took a break from the helmet after an angry red spot showed up on his head where the helmet was rubbing.  In "fixing" the helmet, the orthotist created a new area that rubbed another sore spot.  We had to leave the helmet off for a few days until we could get it adjusted again.  I am a tad annoyed because I feel like Fisher has been going through a growth spurt and this would have been prime time to harness the growth in a positive way to help reshape his noggin!  We're back to wearing it full time except a one hour break at bath time.  He's doing pretty well with it so far and sleeping OK.

Fisher is about to cut teeth E and F (upper front teeth), so he's been a little "fragile" at times.  Also, I mentioned above that he's growing- I finally had to raise the height of the exersaucer to the next level, so he's definitely getting taller!
Life has been pretty quiet otherwise.  We had yet another snow day midweek, so we all spent the day playing and staying cozy inside.  Hayes helped me make what will become our traditional snow day breakfast--chocolate chip pancakes!

I love hats on babies, so I'm a little disappointed that I won't get to put them on Fisher for the 3ish months he'll be wearing his helmet.  I couldn't resist one last hat this week on his break from the helmet.

Before bath, Fisher was getting some "flerberts" from both Kyle and Hayes.  This is always good for a smile!

After his bath, Fisher is kept happy by chewing on toys...
And tonight, he found a very interesting friend who he couldn't stand to let go.  Isn't he adorable?!?!

Last but not least, here is Fisher in his cute little robe we received as a gift:
In Hayes news, the little guy finally realized (two weeks later) that he can get out of his big boy bed.  I was awakened this morning by him standing next to my bed calling my name---a little jolting considering he's never done that before.  Naptime was a battle today, too.  He wandered out of his room several times and then banged (literally) around his room for a while.  We're in uncharted territory here!  How do we keep him in bed and away from everything dangerous in the house?  (Yes, we have babyproofed, but an almost 3 year old can get into a whole lot of trouble!) How long before he gets up and wakes me up at 4 am, ready to play?  Any tips???

An idea that we got from our Pediatrician was to put a little stuffed animal on their dresser or by their bed and tell them that they're going to watch him sleep and if he stays in bed like a big boy the little stuffed animal will leave him a small surprise. It could be a few M&Ms, small toys, or a toy that he hasn't played with in a while that the animal wanted to play with him. It worked for a short time, but we enjoyed it. After this wore off I took pictures of what she was supposed to do during a nap, and what she wasn't supposed to do. For instance we took a picture of her holding Dog Dog (her fav. stuffed animal) with her eyes closed for how to stay in bed and rest. Then we had a page that said, "I don't get under my bed, play with my toys, etc. with pictures." She reads this book everyday before her nap and she loves seeing pictures of herself and having her very own book.
