The biggest event to take place during week 20 is Fisher SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! (Of course, now that I wrote this, he will probably get sick and then regress and be up every 2-3 hours... and yes, I do believe in jinxing things!) He has been eating at 8 pm right before being put to bed. Then, I rouse him just enough to eat again at about 10 pm. For the last five nights straight, he has slept straight through until 6 or 6:30 am. Can I tell you how wonderful it feels to get 7 hours of sleep in a row? It makes this momma extremely happy!
Update: I jinxed it!!! Last night, he woke up to eat at 4:20. But, alas, those five nights in a row were glorious and gave me a nice strectch of rest. The time will come when he sleeps through the night every night----hopefully sooner rather than later!
In Hayes news: he has learned his left from his right (and no, he doesn't guess it right only half the time!) and finally mastered his colors a few weeks ago. Mostly, I just have funny things he is saying these days. Where he gets some of this stuff, I don't know! (1) One night at bathtime while having his hair washed, he asked Kyle to give him a "jayhawk." He, of course, meant a mohawk! (2) Hayes has grasped the concepts of past and future, sort of... He thinks everything from the past was "yestaday" and the future is "tomorrow." (3)He can't say "cloud." He keeps saying "clown" when referring to the outfit you see on Fisher below. Even when we enunciate the "d" at the end of cloud, he still says, "clowneD." Too funny! (4) Hayes keeps asking what stuff is "all about." We saw a UPS truck yesterday and he asked, "mommy, what's that truck all about?" (5) He has been using a gesture lately that channels his inner Italian (no Italian blood that we know of, though). When he is trying to get a point across, he lifts and lowers an upturned palm like an old Italian lady. It's so hard to describe---I'll have to try to get a video, because it will crack you up!
Our cutie has been doing a lot of this lately---using both hands to work them into the desired position---his mouth!
This outfit was one that Anna sent for Hayes. It fits Fisher perfectly these days---and I LOVE the matching hat!
So sleepy:
Matching shirts Grandmama bought for the boys:
Doing some more talking:
The "Solidarity Cut" originated two years ago when Kyle grew out his hair and then shaved it to match Hayes' fashionable pattern of hair growth that we coined "The skullet"---a cross between a mullet (business in the front, party in the back) and a skull-cap. Fisher got his own solidarity cut last weekend, highlighting the ever receding dark brown hairline which is slowly reaching his neck--a style we're affectionately calling "The Ulrich" (for obvious reasons...).
We went to not one, but two fairs this week. The first was more of a local "4 Town Fair" that was fairly small in scale and where Hayes got his feet wet as far as fair rides and food go. He rode several kiddie rides and had his first bites of an elephant ear, though they generically call them "fried dough" up in these parts. Here are a few pics of Hayes enjoying himself:

Fair #2 was "The Big E," or the Eastern Exposition, which is something like the largest fair in New England. There was much more to do and see (and eat!) at this fair. We dropped Fisher at daycare and took Hayes for a big boy special day.
Have you ever read the fine print on your driver's side mirror? "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." Is this picture a similar optical trick? No, the car is actually that small and Kyle actually squeezed into it to ride with Hayes. The funniest part was that Kyle had to pay two tickets to ride in addition to the two for Hayes!
Another fun ride:
No more fairs this year--our diets can't take any more of the fried temptations! (We did indulge a little....Kyle's favorite was the Craz-E burger---a bacon cheeseburger sandwiched between a grilled, sliced glazed doughnut!)
Speaking of indulging---here is Hayes with a treat after dinner. Ice cream makes everyone happy!

you can tell where my mind is, I am now craving a Craz-E burger, as gross as that sounded!!! Where is the pic of that?
Love the pics of the matching hair dos!!!
Love Fisher's belly. I just want to give it a zerbert :). So cute that Hayes says clowneD. Avery says dar for car, no matter how much we try. The solidarity cuts are priceless!
OMG I totally remember buying that outfit! Tuesday mornings in Hendersonville when you were preggers with Hayes!! I LOVE IT- so glad it made a showing with Fisher. I am SOOO glad I got to meet him and see you guys!
I can't believe how big they're both getting. Fisher has doubled in size since we saw him last! Love all of the pics, especially "the Ulrich" haircut. Did Professor Hadden sport that one on campus?
