Week One

The twins' first week was a good one. They came off of their CPAPs on Wednesday night and have been breathing on their own ever since. Both pulled their feeding tubes out of their mouths (naughty babies), so they were placed in their noses instead. (The tape you see on their faces just helps hold the tubes in place.) Both babies are tolerating their feeds pretty well, though they were spitting up a little bit more when the feeds were being increased too quickly. The docs have since slowed down the increase in feeding amounts. Now, Fisher and Marin are getting all of their nutrition through their tubes---whereas before, they got some from IV fluids. Without further ado, here are some pictures of the angels!

Fisher 4 lbs., 1 oz. today

Since the babies were off of the CPAPs, we were able to dress them in cute little preemie clothes we brought from home. This is Fisher's first outfit:

There are some volunteers who knit little tiny blankets and hats for all the NICU babies. It is very difficult to find hats that are remotely small enough to fit their heads, so these hats are absolutely perfect! Here is Fisher with his:

Marin 3 lbs., 6 oz. today

What an angel!

So sleepy (and wearing her pink knit hat and pink/white blanket):

Skin to skin time with both of us:

I got to hold both babies at once yesterday! I was elated!!!
