Part two of Hayes' visit to South Carolina was a week in Charleston with my family. He had a blast, from what we're told. He enjoyed being "really active" (according to Nana Judy) and spent lots of time playing outside and even went on daily stroller walks with Papa Glenn. And, he got to play with a new set of "toys." Above, Hayes is playing with the dog bed and a empty cream puff container. (This is when I ask myself why we even bother buying him actual toys...) Below, Hayes takes over as captain of Papa Glenn's boat. Don't worry---it was on the trailer in the driveway!
Mom and Dad took Hayes to Georgetown to see his Great-grandma Cherry, Great Aunt Linda, and Great Uncle Jack. Hayes went right up to Great-grandma Cherry (who he had only met once before, when he was 8 months old) and gave her a hug, which thrilled her.
Here he is enjoying Linda and Jack's company:
Apparently, Hayes really fell in love with his Great Uncle Jack--they played and played together (kids always love Uncle Jack!). Hayes must have liked the cushy place to rest his head in this photo:
So, my dad had the great honor of doing most of Hayes' feeding. I think he liked the challenge of trying and finding different foods that he would eat. He took his duties maybe a little too far in introducing Hayes to Spam, which he LOVED (yes, I am quite horrified...), but which he has had none since and won't again under my roof.
I think the grandparents played a dirty trick here: they taught him how to play in the dirt! I know it was inevitable, but I'm not quite ready to have an ending to the days of a clean little boy in clean clothes. Oh well. He had tons of fun. We have since bought him his own shovel and rakes.
Hayes enjoyed climbing up on Dailyn's bicycle. Too bad his feet only reached the top pedal!
Hayes also got to spend time with his Aunts Stephanie and Stacey. He met his newest cousin Lawson for the first time. Mostly, he played with his cousins Dailyn and Dawn.
Steph was nice enough to bring over some of Dailyn's old toys for Hayes to play with. I'm not sure if they had more fun playing with the toys or the rubbermaid bin she brought them over in!
Here is Hayes searching for Dailyn, who is under the covers:
Thank you so much for keeping our son happy and healthy and entertained while we were in Japan! It means the world to us to know that he was safe and loved while he was with you! And thank you, dad, for taking so many pictures so that we could keep up with his adventures while we were away!
