Week 43

This week's picture was taken this morning right before heading off to daycare. Hayes takes his awesome book bag (another of his favorite Christmas presents, given to him by my parents) every day with food and bibs and other baby stuff. We thought the bag was perfect--it's a pirate bag for our baby who celebrated "talk like a pirate day" every day for months. Sadly, his "arggggggg"s are coming fewer and farther between. But, his new noises are pretty cute too: now he says "ah-doo" and "dough" a lot.

Week 43 has been a good one. Hayes is getting more used to daycare. He is growing more hair, but still looks mostly bald. He is standing for longer periods at a time---over a minute without holding onto something. The negative thing I could say about this week is that he has learned how to throw mini temper tantrums. If you try to take him away from something he's playing with or interested in, he screams and kicks his legs. I'm not sure if this is a permanent thing or if he's just been a little fragile lately (a term my brother Chris and my sis-in-law Cindy use to describe a child's bad mood due to various reasons like tiredness, teething, hungry, etc.). Anyways, I dread the idea of them becoming very frequent.

In other news, I fell down the slippery hardwood stairs the other night and banged myself up pretty well. I have bruises that cover just about all the blue and purple shades on the spectrum. Body art is how I'm looking at it! I also bruised my left shoulder, making it really painful to move my arm. In true Ulrich fashion, I didn't go to the doctor because I wasn't dying (and because I have my trusty best friend Anna to call for advice who just happens to be a doctor--lucky me, poor her!) The shoulder is on the mend so I'm heading back to work tomorrow. Oh, and because Kyle fell down the stairs a month or so ago, we've decided we're going to put some rugs with grip on the stairs to make things safer. We've been so lucky that neither of us was holding the baby and that we didn't break anything.
