Maple Leaf Festival

Today we made the trip to beautiful, small-town Baldwin City, Kansas for their 50th annual Maple Leaf Festival. This festival usually coincides with the reds, golds, browns of the changing fall foliage--maple leaves specifically, hence the name. The weather has been too warm this season to really cause any spectacular changes. In fact, only a few trees have begun to change. The festival was in full swing, though, and happened to fall on the same weekend as Baker University's 150th anniversary. Baker is a small, liberal arts university that enrolls about 1000 students and is Methodist affiliated. For any Woffordites reading this, Baker sounds a little familiar, doesn't it? Below is Baker's version of 'Old Main.'

Kyle was super excited about this weekend because of the---surprise, surprise---FOOD! He made sure to eat a smaller breakfast to save plenty of room for the humongous turkey leg and funnel cake that awaited him. In true form, Kyle polished them both off (well, he did leave a tiny bit of funnel cake). I am still hungry all the time, but hungry for nothing in particular, so the food wasn't as big an attraction for me. I did enjoy some of the craft booths--and bought a hand-made silver spoon bracelet and a neat painted window to hang on the wall.
