Holy cow---only one more month until our "baby" boy is 2! Lately, when asked if he is my baby or my big boy, he says, "big boy!" That makes me so proud, but so sad at the same time.
We haven't had a whole lot going on here---we've mostly been spending our weekends indoors. It's still fairly cold and wet here, although we haven't gotten much snow. There's just enough snow often enough to hamper most outdoor play activities. We were able to make a pretty nice snowman last week, though. Hayes pretty much stays in his pj's on the weekends unless we go somewhere--hence the 23 months pic taken in his pj's at 6:45 this evening... We can't wait until it gets warmer out so we can spend some more time outdoors and go exploring in CT a bit more.
Hayes had a great Valentine's Day this year. All his friends and teachers at school gave him Valentines on the Friday before V-day. He spent quite a while going through them with me (probably 12 total), memorizing who gave him each one. When Kyle got home that night, Hayes picked them up one by one and told his daddy who each was from. He's even been carrying a few around with him and can still remember who gave him each one 2 weeks later.
Since there aren't many pictures from this month, I'll entertain you with some of Hayes' latest antics/sayings. For example, when going up or down the stairs, Hayes says, "careful Mommy" and "careful Daddy"---I guess he's heard us tell him that more than a few times. Warning---for those of you with sensitive tastes, this next one is a tad risque: When seeing me getting dressed and putting on my bra, Hayes matter of factly says, "Mommy put the boobies on." He loves horses and school buses and says, "muh ride horse/spool bus one day." (He always says "muh" which means both me and I.) He sings "Head, shoulders, knees and toes," but never points to his shoulders, skipping from head to knees. On the not-so-cute side, he also has started saying, "leave muh lone"---one of the things I wish he hadn't learned from the older kiddos at daycare... But I'll end with his cutest saying of the past month: he was playing with my hair the other night before bed and said, "mommy's hair boofaful." What a wonderfully smart boy---he's learned to compliment a woman as a distraction/diversion (in this case, it was bedtime)!
Oh, wait!!!! There's one more thing that I think Kyle was hoping I'd forget to write. This last saying is one Hayes mastered several months ago. Whenever he sees a Kyle open a bottle of wine or pour a glass, Hayes calls it "Daddy juice." It's gotten so that whenever he sees a bottle of wine anywhere, even in a book of his, he points to it and calls it "Daddy juice." Poor Kyle is so embarrassed---he thinks it makes him sound like a drunkard. He doesn't even drink it that often---maybe one or two glasses a week, but Hayes had a tremendous memory, I guess. And wine will probably be "Daddy juice" for a long time to come. (In all fairness to Kyle, Hayes never sees me drink wine, so doesn't associate it with me. And he calls chocolate milk "Mama juice," which he does see me drink.)
Here is Hayes enjoying a new food---peanut butter! It's finger-licking good!
