After a blogging hiatus, here I am publishing Hayes' 22 month "report" almost 2 weeks late--oops! (And make sure to read all the posts that follow---I'm trying to catch up for lost time!) In his 22 month pictures, Hayes is sitting at the Little Tykes table given to us by some neighbors while he is coloring. By coloring, I mean hording the crayons and actually drawing on the page only every now and then!
The little monkey has been keeping us busy! He is saying really interesting phrases, like "it's s'posed a be on there" and "excuse me" (when he wants us or the cats to get out of his way) and "stam up" (stand up). While he still loves playing with his horses and play kitchen, Hayes has been playing with his Thomas train and the cars and "racing ramps" toy that Nana Judy and Papa Glenn gave him. He is still wanting to help---whether it's by sweeping or shoveling snow---we even bought him his own little shovel (conditioning him for doing the job all by himself in a few more years). His palate has expanded ever so slightly in that he's now eating pasta and "dip" (marinara sauce), eggs, peanut butter, and chicken nuggets. One of the things that has impressed me the most is that Hayes can count to eleven---at daycare they count to 20 every day, so the repetition is definitely sinking in. Now if only they would work on colors....everything I point to and ask him about is RED!
Here is the tricycle that Grandmomma Betty and Grandaddy Butch gave Hayes for Christmas---he loves it but hasn't fugured out the knack of peddling by himself yet!

Almost as much fun as the new tricylce is the box it came in!
