Children's Museum

This weekend, we took Hayes to the West Hartford Children's Museum. We had a great time. Below are some pics of the day:

Is Kyle a giant? No, he's just standing next to the doorway to the play kitchen.

It's fun to watch Hayes around other kids. Most of the time, it's still just "parallel play," when the children play next to each other and not with each other. Hayes does actually interact with his little girlfriend, Emma, at daycare, though. It's too cute to watch them play their version of 'hide and seek' and 'catch me.' I can't remember if I wrote anything about this yet, but apparently, Hayes and Emma stop several times during the day to love on each other---to pat one another or Hayes will lay his head on Emma's shoulder, etc. Ah, baby love...
Here is Hayes parallel playing with another older kid in the play kitchen:

Doesn't he look so tiny here?

Hee, hee, look what I found!!!

As far as development goes, Hayes is starting to learn his animal sounds. He can roar like a lion, moo like a cow, baa like a sheep, and meow like a cat (though the moo and meow sound remarkably similar to the untrained ear). He is pointing to a few body parts when prompted. Hayes like to wave bye to everyone, usually after they've given up on waiting for it and have already turned away. He also likes to give 'high fives.' On the messy side of the development spectrum, Hayes is starting to feed himself with the spoon. He dips it into the bowl of food and then, instead of moving the spoon to his mouth in a civilized fashion, catapults it up to his mouth. Most of the food drips out of the spoon down his arm or lands on his face. He is quite pleased with himself nonetheless and says, "mmmm" when the spoon makes its way into his mouth. What a smart boy this momma has!
